I just registered and have been reading posts about the $20 Challenge and thought I'd start one also. I know, I'm about 6 months behind those who started in January, but that's ok - saving is saving, right?!
Some ideas of mine are:
-spare change and $1 bills
-rebates
-stuff sold at garage sales and on craiglist.
-using the clothes rack instead of dryer
-not buying something that I really want
-any extra money that comes my way!
I'm not looking to save up Thousands of dollars, since we already pinch our pennies just to get by - already make lunches, no Starbucks, use coupons, etc.
Any ideas that you use for the $20 Challenge would be appreciated!
Thanks for reading!

My $20 challenge is within the spirit, though not quite the letter, of the contest. I get an allowance every month of $400 and save all my ones and change when I spend my pocket money. This winds up saving me an average of $100 every month (WOW!). Even just the change would have resulted with $1200 for a year... Personally, I used this money to start a side business that's now bringing in some extra money each month.

So, I'm curious...what's your side business?
I ask because I have 2 businesses - one does very well, and the other I've just started, so haven't brought in anything yet.
Owning your own business is very rewarding, I think.

Since I use my allowance for small purchases (lunch, coffee, etc.) rather than big $50+ stuff, the extra really does add up. I was completely surprised the first month I counted it up!
